The story so far:

Wanda Magnatova didn't know what to expect when she arrived at the prestigious boarding school, Exhampton Academy. She certainly didn't know why she had been enrolled in the "Magnat Program", since everyone else in the program was a science prodigy and she was not. All she knew…

…was that her father, Erich Magnat, had summoned her there and made the arrangements. It was several months later that she learned that Magnat had founded the program in an attempt to prepare a few selected members of the next generation to fight…
demons, of whose existence Magnat had learned during his childhood. Among those accepted into the program were:
Blake Olson, who specialized in interdimensional warps; unfortunately, he opened one which let in a Dark Ages warlock named Loki, who magically stole Blake's quantitative reasoning abilities until his own demise months later. Blake, who had dropped out of Exhampton, is now working on his own projects at home in an impoverished neighborhood in Philadelphia.
Tony Fujikawa specialized in weapons systems, and his success did seem to win the heart of the very impressive Natalie Rome. But it turned out that she was a corporate spy, and Tony, heartbroken, has been in an alcoholic haze ever since she revealed her true identity and left.
Cynthia Maxon, Wanda's roommate, claims to specialize in psychology, but seems really to specialize in orchestrating disasters from behind the scenes. She also seems to know much more about the demons than she has let on.
Then there's Wanda Magnatova herself: raised to be a telekinetic, she instead has the power to destroy small objects with a thought. (Her father attempted to gain this same ability through the use of an "amplifier helmet," but it wound up giving him terminal brain cancer.)
Gerald Ford, headmaster of Exhampton Academy, also claims a long history fighting demons. Unfortunately for him, his expertise does not extend to fighting robots, and one recently put him out of action.

But not every demon fighter is affiliated with Exhampton Academy:

Alibeca Juarez has the ability to fly, to produce bursts of light, and to turn demons to ash; she believes herself to be an angel in the charge of an archangel named Gloriel. She recently relocated from the American Southwest to New England in pursuit of…

Pandemonio, wielder of the Amulet of Pandemos, which makes him master of the demons. Pandemonio came to New England in order to seek and serve…
Dave the Robot, a mechanical man inhabited by the soul of the Dark Ages warlock Loki.

It has been one disaster after another since Pandemonio came to town. How much of this can be laid at his feet is open to question, but after the death of Dave the Robot, with whom Wanda was very close, Wanda has little inclination to ask those questions. No, Wanda is out for vengeance…
